A national motorcycle manufacturer came searching for an automated pin-striping system. While pin-striping may not seem complex, their exacting standards and manual process required employees to be trained six months before painting production parts. Six of the largest automation vendors, including three robot manufacturers, were asked to quote the project. Nobody could. In fact, the robot manufacturers said it couldn't be done - not to the customer's satisfaction: this mission was impossible. Working closely with the customer, we researched ways to meet their demanding requirements. To enable better path generation, our software engineers enhanced a pre-release version of the robot software. After two years, One satisfied customer has four "impossible" systems...
